Yard Waste is considered garden plants, tiny branches and thatch, not including leaves and grass clippings. Grass clippings should be composted or left on the lawn. The Village crews cannot take the clippings, as the Village’s disposal site will not accept them. Yard waste shall be placed at the curb by 7 am the day of pick-up but no sooner than 8 pm the day prior to the scheduled day of pick-up.Yard waste must be placed between the curb and sidewalk in sturdy paper bags or in containers that can be emptied. Please limit the weight of these containers to prevent back injuries to the Public Works Employees.Yard waste shall be put in re-usable containers or large paper bags. Not in plastic bags! Yard waste placed in container greater than 30 gallons or yard waste weighing more than 50 lbs will not be taken. If you have an extremely large amount please call Village Hall to verify whether its considered a special pick-up.
Yard waste collection typically begins the second week of April. The schedule will be as follows:
If you live north of Henry Clay or on Henry Clay please have your yard waste out on Monday at 7 a.m. If you live south of Henry Clay please have your yard waste out on Tuesday at 7 a.m.
The Department of Public Works will make every effort to pick-up the yard waste on the scheduled date; however, pick-up may extend into the preceding day depending on other factors. On weeks that involve a holiday your yard waste pick-up may be delayed because of labor allocation.
If you have a large amount of yard waste, ground, stone, or other landscape material, please visit the Village Hall to schedule and pay for a special pickup. The minimum charge is $45.
The Village does not pick up contractor waste from any residential or commercial landscaping project. Village Collectors will tag any construction waste that is put out on the curb notifying the property owner that these materials are not collected and that private means of disposal must be negotiated. Please arrange with your landscaping contractor to remove this waste they have created.
Rules & Guidelines

The Village typically begins collecting and chipping branches the second week of April. Chipping has a lower priority in the operations and therefore there is no set schedule for its collection
In addition, if you generate a significant amount of material that is more than four feet high and covers more than 70% of the parkway in front of your home, you need to go to Village Hall to schedule and pay for a special pickup. The minimum charge is $45.Contractor Waste
